BNT are a successful motor parts distribution company. When they approached Darroch’s in 2001 their main warehouse was in Diana Drive on Auckland’s North Shore with other facilities in Wiri and Mt Wellington. The new facility in North Harbour has been operating since mid-2003 and now services about 48 branches throughout New Zealand with a wide range of products. |
| When Darroch’s were approached to design and develop a new DC in order to combine all of their operations and provide for future growth, their three existing facilities were barely coping. |  |
 | After the concepts were discussed and the most appropriate option agreed, a detailed design was prepared for a DC that was built and is now operating at Omega Drive, North Harbour. Apart from providing the necessary bulk storage, this facility has a raised storage area to provide picking spaces for their wide range of products. A simple conveyor transports the packed orders to the packing area for packing and despatch. |
| An evaluation of a warehouse management system was undertaken, resulting in the selection of Acumen Advanced Warehouse system provided by Manufact Data Systems of North Harbour. This totally integrated system has been operating successfully since mid-2003. The system is being well managed and provides significant benefits with high levels of accuracy and the ability to provide excellent levels of customer service to BNT's network of branches throughout New Zealand. |
